Lord Shiva, "The Destroyer of the World", is responsible for the two aspects of change. The first being destruction in the physical sense, the second being the destruction of the ego and changing of habits. While in this pose, it represents both the destruction and creation of the universe, revealing the cycle of death, birth, and rebirth.
